INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Representing more than 300,000 working Hoosiers from around the state in more than 800 affiliated local unions, today the Indiana State AFL-CIO officially endorsed John Gregg for Governor.

“On behalf this great statewide federation of local unions we are proud to endorse John Gregg in his campaign for Governor,” said Indiana AFL-CIO President Brett Voorhies. “John has spent his entire career standing up for working families and we know that he will continue to do that as our next Governor.”

“John Gregg will not only bring some much needed balance back to the Statehouse, he will bring the right priorities and right temperament to the office. He will focus on improving working people’s lives instead of a partisan agenda that does nothing to create jobs, improve schools or fix our infrastructure,” added Voorhies.

Citing their strong support for Gregg the Indiana State AFL-CIO held a special endorsement convention in Indianapolis this afternoon to vote on an endorsement in this race only. Endorsements in the U.S. Senate, Attorney General and Superintendent of Public Instruction positions as well as for various State Senate and House seats will take place next summer.

“This early endorsement is unusual for us, but following the attacks on working people – including the repeal of the Common Construction Wage which Mike Pence spearheaded – we couldn’t wait,” said Voorhies. ““For working men and women the stakes are high and the choice is clear: We need John Gregg as our Governor.”
